The Opportunity

As a Data Privacy Manager at ESW, you will play a crucial, hands-on role in the day-to-day operations of our data privacy programme. You will work closely with all ESW business functions to support our commitment to the highest standards of data protection. This is a primarily operational role focused on implementing privacy controls, assisting with risk assessments, and helping to embed a culture of privacy across the organisation. You will offer essential support in implementing the privacy roadmap and ensuring our daily activities align with global data protection and AI laws.

Responsibilities

Support the Data Privacy Programme

  • Assist in the day-to-day coordination and implementation of measures to ensure compliance with GDPR, ePrivacy, and other applicable global data privacy regulations.
  • Support the execution of the privacy roadmap by completing assigned tasks and tracking progress.
Practical Guidance & Support
  • Provide practical, day-to-day guidance on privacy matters to business areas (marketing, product development, technology, sales, and customer service).
  • Help identify potential privacy risks in new and existing processes and assist in implementing mitigation actions.
Maintain & Implement Privacy Controls
  • Assist in maintaining and updating data privacy policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Conduct and document Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and privacy impact assessments for new products and services, supporting the team in managing identified risks.
  • Help manage and respond to data subject rights requests (DSRs) in a timely and compliant manner.
Promote a Privacy-Aware Culture
  • Contribute to a culture of privacy and data protection by engaging with teams and answering their day-to-day queries.
  • Assist in coordinating and delivering privacy training initiatives and help design and maintain training materials.
Programme Metrics & Vendor Support
  • Help prepare reports and gather metrics on the performance of the privacy programme for internal partners.
  • Support the vendor due diligence process by reviewing the data protection practices of third-party vendors.
Market & Regulatory Monitoring
  • Monitor developments in data privacy, including new guidance and changes in legislation, and provide summaries to the team.
  • Assist the team in adapting ESW’s privacy practices to address newly identified compliance requirements.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a data privacy or a related compliance role.
  • Experience with data privacy principles in a fast-paced environment (e.g., e-commerce, tech, or DTC).
  • Experience in supporting or conducting DPIAs and privacy risk assessments.
  • Strong working knowledge of the GDPR, ePrivacy, and other key global data protection and AI legistation.
  • Privacy qualifications e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, Law Society, King’s Inns etc..
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with different teams and explain privacy concepts clearly.
  • Familiarity with privacy management platforms (e.g., OneTrust) is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
