What will you do?
As a Data Platform Engineer, you will build and operate the core components of Fenergo’s modern, cloud-native Data Platform on AWS. You will work as part of the Enterprise Transformation team to deliver secure, automated, scalable data capabilities across ingestion, modelling, governance, and platform tooling.
You will contribute directly to the controlled SDLC process (Kanban-based engineering workflow, CI/CD, repo standards, testing, automation), supporting a platform that underpins analytics, AI, reporting, and operational processes across the business.
This role is ideal for a strong platform engineer with deep experience in Python, cloud services, SQL, and modern data engineering patterns.
Responsibilities
1. Ingestion
- Implement and extend the contract-driven ingestion framework, including CI-driven automation.
- Build runners that land data to AWS S3 using idempotent, partitioned layouts with strict IAM-scoped access.
2. Master Data Management & Dimensional Modelling
- Develop DBT models across Silver and Gold layers with a focus on MDM intermediate/unioned layers, golden dimensions, and crosswalks.
Implement dbt sources, tests, and schema definitions following SQL and dbt standards.
3. Platform Tooling & Operations
- Administer and optimise data platform tools and components, e.g., Snowflake, dbt Cloud, etc.
- Support platform observability, quality controls, security posture, and cost optimisation across AWS and Snowflake.
4. Software Engineering & SDLC (GitOps/DataOps)
- Apply strong engineering practices across multiple repos using GitOps/DataOps patterns, CI/CD, testing, and automation.
- Write high-quality Python and SQL following platform standards, with linting, type checking, and test coverage.
5. Data Governance, Quality & Security
- Apply platform governance standards including masking policies, tags, RBAC, and FUTURE GRANTS.
- Implement and maintain data quality checks, lineage tagging, and compliance-aligned security patterns.
6. Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with data analysts, AI analysts, and data scientists to support their workflows, improve data accessibility and quality, and enhance their ability to deliver analytics, AI models, and insights on top of the platform.

- 3+ years in software/platform/data engineering roles.
- Strong Python engineering capability (testing, packaging, CI, linting).

- Experience with dbt (modelling, macros, tests) and orchestration/automation tools.
- Strong Git experience and familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub workflows.
- Hands-on AWS experience (IAM, S3, cross-account access patterns).
- Experience working in a modern GitOps/DataOps environment with CI/CD, code review, and repo standards.
- Experience working in a modern SDLC: code review, CI/CD, branching, linting, automation.
- Strong problem-solving and system-thinking orientation.
