Our innovative technology and data teams in Salford Quays, Manchester, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and Guernsey are on the hunt for a talented Data Business Analyst. This is your chance to be part of our dynamic Data & Analytics (D&A) team, where you can make a real impact!

As a Data Business Analyst specialising in Data & Analytics, you’ll be responsible for the successful analysis and capture of data specific requirements that will form technical design and build work packages for agile data delivery product teams. You’ll be a critical team member, ensuring we really understand our internal customer’s needs and deliver huge value for the business via innovative data solutions. As part of our high performing Data & Analytics team, you’ll operate with agility, a mindset of experimentation and a keen sense of responsibility and ownership.

Could you fit the bill? We're big on working flexibly - you'll spend most of your time working from home, with occasional visits to the office.  But of course, it’s your choice - if you prefer to be in the office more - that's good with us too.  We've offices located in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, Salford Quays, Manchester, and Guernsey it’s your choice - if you live further afield, we’ll accept applications for remote workers!

This role isn't focused on hands-on dashboard or report development. We're seeking an experienced Business Analyst with at least 3 years industry experience, specifically focussing on Data. What’s Involved:

  • You'll conduct thorough data business analysis, including challenging perceptions and embedded thinking, to ensure that data requirements move the business forward and achieve valuable outcomes.
  • You'll facilitate workshops and deliver presentations to capture requirements and generate feedback.
  • You'll act as an internal consultant, interpreting user requests and where appropriate, making suggestions for better/alternative ways of obtaining and presenting the required information.
  • You'll be responsible for developing clear, robust, and accurate data specific user stories and requirements.
  • We're looking for someone to apply agile and lean practices into all aspects of your work, seeking to optimise flow and reduce wait time wherever possible.
  • You'll create wireframes, mock-ups and POCs as part of the requirements process to validate needs and feasibility.
  • You'll agree business data definitions as part of the requirement process, which inform both the technical design and support the implementation of the data governance standards.
  • You'll create data mapping artefacts, including definition of transformations required, to inform the design and build process.
  • You'll become a trusted Data SME for the data subject areas and business domains in which you work.
  • You'll work alongside data engineering to quickly address points of clarification, iterate requirements, and facilitate business engagement where necessary.
  • You'll actively support the testing process, ensuring traceability of requirement to solution, and helping to co-ordinate and deliver user acceptance testing.
  • You'll support Business Analysts in other parts of the business around data specific requirements analysis methods and practices.

Experience:

  • A strong background in data requirement elicitation using agile practices, and broad understanding of data visualisation, data engineering and data governance.
  • Experience of planning and facilitating workshops of varying size.
  • Experience of influencing and managing stakeholders, with the ability to communicate key messages across multiple areas of the business.
  • Experience of analytics platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qliksense etc.
  • Experience in creating data user stories as part of agile delivery methods.
  • Use of collaboration and agile software management tools such as Confluence, Azure DevOps, Jira.
  • Good grounding in agile software change practices, ideally in a data function.

Skills:

  • Versed in functional/non-functional requirements gathering and definition.
  • Able to confidently act as interface between delivery / technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build deep trust-based relationships with colleagues.
  • Strong service focus with a passion for delivering high-quality products to your stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning, time management and organisation skills.
  • Influential, and a good negotiator.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
