At AIG, technology is at the heart of everything we do, from underwriting risks to processing claims. The Information Technology team equips our employees with the latest tools to complete their work efficiently and with the highest standards of excellence. The team is responsible for shielding the company’s systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG’s businesses to achieve their goals. AIG’s Information Technology functions include application development and management, enterprise architecture, and technology risk and compliance.
About the role
Design, Construct, and Manage Scalable Data Architectures: You will be responsible for designing and constructing data architectures that are scalable, efficient, and aligned with the organization's data strategy and business goals. This involves understanding the data requirements, utilizing best practices, and ensuring compliance with established standards and policies.
Feasibility Evaluation and Recommendations: You will evaluate the feasibility, costs, and challenges associated with data architectures. Based on your analysis, you will provide recommendations for updates and improvements to enhance the performance and efficiency of the data systems.
Collaboration with Data Governance and Data Management Teams: Working closely with the Data Governance and Data Management teams, you will establish and align standards within the overall data architecture.
Expert Consultation on Data Architecture: Your expertise in data architecture will be crucial in providing expert consultation to stakeholders. You will ensure accurate and secure data usage by advising on data architecture-related matters and suggesting updates to address evolving needs and emerging technologies.
Continuous Evaluation and Enhancement: You will continuously evaluate and enhance data architecture artifacts, such as data models, frameworks, and guidelines. By keeping these artifacts up-to-date, accurate, relevant, and easily accessible, you will contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the data architecture.
Collaboration with Business Units: You will collaborate with various business units and Data Product Owners to understand their data design requirements.
Data Model Design and Implementation: You will be responsible for designing, documenting, and implementing data models that meet specified objectives. This includes translating business requirements into data structures and ensuring the integrity, quality, and accessibility of the data.
Required Skills:
- BSc computer science or equivalent.
- Ideally you will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture, data management, and/or business intelligence environments.
- Experience in the Insurance sector, particularly with an emphasis on commercial lines, will be advantageous.
- Comprehensive Knowledge of Data Principles and Procedures
- Experience in Data Modelling Concepts with a particular emphasis on Data Vault modelling, dimensional modelling and ontology.
- Ideally you will have demonstrated experience in designing solutions using modern data technology platforms, including Cloud-based solutions such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, and Spark. This expertise will ensure that you can leverage the latest tools and technologies to build efficient and scalable data architectures.
- You should have experience in developing and operationalizing architectural and data designs. This includes designing not only the data structures but also the associated technologies and infrastructure required for effective implementation.
