How YOU will make a Difference:
HMA's Technical Writer is responsible for collaborating with team members across the organization to create and update process and system documentation for end users. We are in the middle of a documentation evolution focused on ensuring all team members have visibility and accountability to controlled documentation of standardized processes that will improve quality and enable consistent execution of job tasks and responsibilities.
What YOU will do:
- Actively manage the change request process including document updates, review process, and version control
- Write and/or edit process- and procedure-related content, tailoring the content to the appropriate audience and in accordance with team and company style guidelines
- Coordinate with the author and/or stakeholders to review and gain approval of the final output prior to publishing
- Effectively manage the planning and execution of long-term projects with functional areas like Product/Marketing, Claims, Enrollment, and Member Services; work with key stakeholders to consolidate and develop controlled documentation for end users
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with requestors and stakeholders, keeping team members regularly informed about status and progress, opportunities for consideration, and documentation best practices
- Champion the creation of standardized processes and documentation for consistent use by all team members
- Document the Technical Writing team's internal processes
- Identify, develop, and implement technical writing and documentation management best practices and industry standards
- Design, plan, and deliver content solutions that meet the needs of internal customers and business owners
- Learn, use, and challenge current style, standards, and processes and identify opportunities for maturation
Knowledge, Experience, and Key Attributes needed for Success:
- BA degree in English, technical communications, or related discipline required
- 3-5+ years of meaningful technical writing experience; technical writing certification a plus
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word and SharePoint
- Working knowledge of Adobe applications including Acrobat
- Experience in the healthcare or health insurance field a plus
- Experience in content management systems and graphics tools a plus
Compensation: The base salary range for this position in the greater Seattle area is $39/hr - $45/hr for a level II and varies dependent on geography, skills, experience, education, and other job or market-related factors.
