Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

As a Compliance Program Manager at Coinbase, you'll lead the charge in helping us build a world-class Compliance programs organization while ensuring that we meet our mission to make cryptocurrency accessible to everyone. You'll be a driving force behind our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) First Line of Defense, defining and building key controls frameworks and supporting Second Line Compliance to defend them to our Boards and external regulators.  With your expertise in AML compliance, operations, and supporting First Line Functions, you'll be the architect behind building and documenting scalable risk-based technology solutions that maintain local regulatory compliance requirements while optimizing the customer experience. Additionally, you will own global tracking and remediations for critical and high risk remediations. You will be working closely with our Legal and Financial Crimes and Compliance teams to ensure our policies and procedures align with the latest industry best practices.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • You will be designing, program managing and documenting key AML controls to support First Line Compliance Operations and Technology to scale.
  • You will work with Compliance, Legal, Operations and Technology teams to implement industry standard best practices in First Line teams.
  • You will be responsible for the governance and reporting of First Line KRIs and metrics to Second Line, EU / UK Boards, as well as the regulators (e.g. Central Bank of Ireland).
  • You will own the business requirements documentation and subsequent artifacts for AML First Line Controls as they relate to critical / high risk remediations.
  • You will utilize an in-depth understanding of metrics, reporting and risk to propose recommendations for how risk-based decisions can be applied at Coinbase.
  • You will gather customer feedback and propose risk-based solutions that balance customer experience and risk, whilst ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Lead the development of dashboards and KPIs to monitor the success of the compliance Program and track adherence to global regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize an in-depth understanding of metrics, reporting, capacity planning and financials to make informed data-driven decisions.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Motivated by Coinbase’s mission
  • 5+ years of proven KYC/AML experience in financial services or technology organizations.
  • 5+ years of program management experience across global and cross functional teams.
  • 2+ years experience communicating to senior leadership and external regulators on AML frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and risk management practices for financial services.
  • Hands-on involvement in defining metrics that tie back to how we measure success.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint/Google Slides and Excel/Google Sheets.
  • A BA/BS degree in business, finance, and other related fields.

Nice to haves:

  • Advanced degree in business, finance, and other related fields.
  •  Experience with and/or keen interest in cryptocurrency.
  • Experience working across multiple AML systems and programs simultaneously (e.g., experience in combinations of KYC, AML, and Sanctions).
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CRCM, CAMS, CIA, CISA, and CICA).
  • Deep understanding of Google apps, JIRA, Salesforce Service Cloud.
