JOB DESCRIPTION
ROLE SUMMARY
Lead and develop the Irish Colleague Wellness (CW) teams, delivering progressive, cutting edge business-relevant colleague wellness health support and innovative occupational health solutions.

  • Develop, implement and monitor effectiveness of Global colleague wellness policy and programs, aligning with global requirements to promote good health, support disability and prevent occupational ill health in colleagues.
  • The role requires senior leader engagement, providing expertise to Ireland's Country and Site leaders, alongside CW's main stakeholders such as (but not exclusively) Global People Experience, EHS, Legal, Diversity & Inclusion & all managers on Colleague Wellness health issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in occupational health to all functions in Ireland.
  • Ensure that Ireland's occupational health regulatory requirements are met, alongside ensuring compliance with internal global policies to met audit needs (both internal and external).
  • Analyse threats and trends in occupational health, reporting key issues into Global Colleague Wellness & updated CW's main stakeholders such as (but not exclusively), Ireland's Country and Site leaders, Global People Experience, EHS & Legal.
  • Lead the Irish colleague wellness team according to Pfizer's global CW's goals; direct colleague wellness services, resources and programs in Ireland's sites (including commercial and manufacturing enterprise).
  • Manage the colleague wellness associated vendor/s - incorporates general vendor management of invoices & contract management.
  • As the Lead Colleague Wellness nurse, interact with other external occupational health leaders to gain relevant regulatory changes, network, benchmark and influence on occupational health matters.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic direction -

  • Develop and implement innovative occupational health policy, plans, digital platforms and programs in Ireland.
  • Lead clinical and strategic Colleague Wellness development that aligns with business priorities, promotes good health, supports disability and prevents occupational ill health for all colleagues in Ireland.
  • Review effectiveness of Colleague Wellness / key customer interface in Ireland via collation of data trends, reviewing and adjusting programmes in light of results and feedback.
  • Promote communications and collaborative work re Colleague Wellness global goals / project outputs.
  • Analyse threats and trends, reporting issues to global CW and the relevant local & global stakeholders to influence committee decisions.


2. Provide subject matter expertise in CW / occupational health to Senior Leaders, main stakeholders and to all groups/colleagues in Ireland.

  • Internally and externally recognized as subject matter expert in CW / occupational health .
  • Determine Ireland's Colleague Wellness response to external health threats (in liaison with Global CW).
  • Apply expertise across all divisions in Ireland, interfacing at all levels, using comprehensive knowledge to bring foresight and judgment to complex occupational health problems.
  • Working highly autonomously, make and stand behind tough, independent Colleague Wellness decisions, assuming personal responsibility for driving solutions to complex occupational health issues and influencing stakeholders.


3. Meet Occupational Health Regulatory Requirements -

  • Provide leadership on Ireland's regulatory occupational health requirements, liaising and communicating with key stakeholders, customers and external regulators as required.
  • Solve highly complex/ambiguous Colleague Wellness issues with a legal, regulatory or reputational risk, providing advice to senior leaders and influencing decisions.
  • Anticipate development of regulatory/compliance issues, ensuring continued statutory and corporate compliance in respect of risk assessments, health surveillance, medical records, first aid and ergonomics; provide guidance on issues such as absence management, rehabilitation, fitness for duty, and disability.


4. Manage the Ireland's Colleague Wellness team -

  • Directly lead the Colleague Wellness service provision and resource in Ireland. Meet financial and business priorities whilst providing cost effective and fit for purpose Colleague Wellness service that aligns and flexes with business need, and continuously looks to deliver programme enhancements and efficiencies. Work with relevant stakeholdersre Benefit provisions given knowledge of populations' health needs.
  • Chair Ireland's Colleague Wellness multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide easy and quick access to speedy decision making, removing barriers and facilitating rapid dialogue with stakeholders, and empowering teams to own and execute agreed change.
  • Drive high performance Colleague Wellness standards, look to identify and recognize occupational health talent to grow the Colleague Wellness talent pipeline.
  • Utilise relevant digital platforms for service delivery and to drive innovative services.


5. Establish effective and credible networks

  • Internally, build constructive relationships so as to leverage mutually beneficial relationships with key customers and stakeholders, sharing information and gaining their commitment and support.
  • Externally with occupational health leaders in pharmaceutical and other industry councils, in academia and in regulatory roles so as to maintain awareness of developing issues/threats, influence thinking and partner collaboratively on Pfizer's behalf.
  • Use awareness of developing issues, combined with knowledge of industry, regulatory & customer requirements and the general business environment to anticipate the need for change, and developing innovative business models in occupational health that resolve the threat or meet or exceed the challenge.
  • Promote occupational health local and global networks and communities of practice within Pfizer across all regions and divisions, cultures and nationalities; influence occupational health colleagues outside of direct authority to continuously improve, by challenging occupational health custom and practice and promoting the sharing of occupational health resource across boundaries in order to meet regulatory and customer requirements in a secure, resource efficient and innovative manner.


QUALIFICATIONS
Registered general nurse (RGN) (as recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI))
&
Hold a specialist occupational health nursing certificate (OHNC), PgDIP Occupational Health, occupational health nursing diploma (OHND) / MSC or specialist community public health nurse (SCPHN).
Management experience - proven track record in both private and public sector is desirable.
Driving licence required - will consider use of public transport if deemed appropriate.
SUPERVISION
All contracted teams are managed by the vendor/s.
Estimated current MDT members comprising of doctors, nurses, technicians & admin staff, total 10 FTE.
BUDGET
No CW budget, but an awareness of vendor costs for service and to be able to monitor service spend & drive financial efficiencies is essential.
