As a manager in Cold Storage Ops, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations and strategic direction of our Cold Storage Operations team. You will be responsible for managing a team of analysts and ensuring the safe custody of digital assets held in Coinbase. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize operational infrastructure, expand cold storage capacity, and implement redundancy and fail-over capabilities. Additionally, you will drive the development of technical acumen within the team, ensuring a deep understanding of blockchain technology and the tools used in cold storage operations. Your leadership will be instrumental in incident management, escalation handling, and communication with stakeholders. We are looking for someone who can foster a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and collaboration. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Develop and execute the strategic direction for the Cold Storage Operations team, aligning it with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
- Lead and manage a team of analysts, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure their professional growth and development.
- Identify opportunities to optimize operational processes, workflows, and infrastructure to enhance the efficiency and scalability of cold storage operations.
- Implement and maintain robust risk management practices to ensure the safe custody of digital assets held in cold storage, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Product, and Account Management, to drive alignment and ensure smooth coordination of cold storage operations.
- Oversee the incident management process, ensuring timely and effective resolution of incidents, and communication with stakeholders to minimize impact and ensure transparency.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the performance of the Cold Storage Operations team, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous optimization.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to cold storage operations, ensuring compliance and maintaining a high level of security.
- Foster a culture of learning and development within the team, providing opportunities for skill-building, knowledge sharing, and career growth.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Strong understanding of blockchain technology and digital asset storage practices.
- Experience in managing and leading a team, preferably in a financial or cryptocurrency-related industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to drive operational improvements and make informed decisions.
- Knowledge of incident management processes and the ability to handle escalations and communicate with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high level of accuracy and security in cold storage operations.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices related to digital asset custody.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Nice to haves:
- Experience in the financial or cryptocurrency industry, particularly in the area of digital asset custody.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: French, German, Japanese, Mandarin or another language
- Knowledge of encryption curves and cryptographic protocols used in blockchain networks.
