As a Cloud Engineer, you will design and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, automate processes, collaborate with developers, and optimize resources for performance and cost-efficiency.
The Role:
If you are a Senior Cloud Engineer there may be a place for you at our Group. Outside the usual suspects of solutions, projects, deep troubleshooting and investigations you will also be driving the Group towards its cloud-native goal. Processes, best practices, pillars and their risk assessments will be but a few of the long-term responsibilities you will have.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Honour and practice Well Architected Framework in all tasks and responsibilities
- Research workloads for migrating them to the cloud with minimal interruption and impact
- Design, orchestrate and track cloud migration projects
- Design and consult re-platform and re-factor of current cloud infrastructure
- Coordinate with other IT departments and teams about their cloud infrastructure
- Investigate and perform regular assessments of cloud deployments in compliance to the Group's standards and best practices
- Design and orchestrate a risk register of cloud deployments and resources, and coordinate its communication to project managers, senior leadership and other IT departments or teams
- Research, develop and implement fair use policies and best practices for cloud services while complying to the Group's standards
- Drive requests for new technologies, services or solutions required from internal customers
- Design, document and deploy Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) and Solutions for internal customers in compliance with the Group's framework
- Define and oversee the Group's deployment standards and pillars and ensure they are applied across cloud solutions and resources
- Follow and provide training for new and current technologies and services used
- Analyse, oversee and remediate cloud costs
Main requirements:
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar discipline
- 5 years of cloud services experience, 3 of which should be on AWS cloud
- Advanced knowledge in solution design and deployment projects
- Understanding and practice of Well Architected Framework
- Methodical troubleshooting of issues and mentoring capabilities
- Experience in AWS technologies, services and ecosystem
- Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools, preferably
- HCL Terraform and AWS CloudFormation
- Experience with versioning tools such as git
- Advanced Linux, networking and scripting skills (Bash)
- Comprehend and accommodate practices such as FinOPS or SRE
- Distinctive organisation and documentation skills
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Experience in Windows OS
- Experience in RDBMSs, preferably Postgres and MySQL
- Experience in scripting languages such as Python or Go
