EPD has established an Analytics Center of Excellence responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining an Enterprise Analytics and Data Management solution servicing all regions across EPD functional areas.

Primary Job Function:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of scalable, cloud-based data solutions.

  • Build and maintain high-quality data pipelines that align with enterprise models and support analytics initiatives.

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications by collaborating with stakeholders and architects.

  • Ensure solutions are robust, scalable, cost-effective, and compliant with IT standards and policies.

  • Define and enforce development standards and best practices.

  • Contribute to Master Data Governance and Management through data flows and builds.

  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning.

  • Stay current with emerging trends in cloud and data engineering.

  • Oversee and guide external vendor teams in delivering aligned data solutions.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand EPD’s data needs in the context of business strategies and priorities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications, including data definitions, models, flows, and transformation logic.

  • Source, ingest, and transform data from multiple systems into valuable data products.

  • Implement enterprise-grade data pipelines with CI/CD, unit testing, and best practices.

  • Continuously enhance user experience and integration processes.

  • Streamline data management to reduce repetitive, non-value-added tasks for business teams.

  • Manage the full data lifecycle, including environment deployments and support handovers.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation for all projects and solutions.

  • Apply technology patterns to support master data activities and business initiatives.

  • Guide external teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and solution quality.

  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data engineering practices.

  • Make strategic decisions aligned with business goals and technical feasibility.

  • Collaborate with the internal Architecture team to ensure alignment with enterprise IT strategy.

  • Lead end-to-end data engineering projects, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery.

  • Design solutions with a user-centric approach to enhance customer experience.

  • Engage regularly with business leaders to understand data needs and provide strategic insights.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration or similar

  • Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. 

  • Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or similar.

Minimum Experience/Training Required:

  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in developing cloud data solutions.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in working in AWS environment using data-related services such as S3, Athena, Glue, Step Functions, Redshift, Lambda, Lake Formation, Api

  • Minimum of five years of experience in programming languages such as Python, Spark

  • Minimum of two years experience in managing technical teams

  • Advanced knowledge of cloud computing and data engineering principles.

  • Expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.

  • Extensive Experience in Data integration concepts like Data Hub, Data Warehouse, Integrated and Harmonized data, Global Data Model, Data Quality Checks, Change Data Capture (CDC), performance and tuning, orchestration (batch, real-time, on-demand), hub and spoke design pattern, Data Product, DevOps, development best practice, reusability of code, Data Profiling, Data Discovering

  • Advanced knowledge of DBT

  • Proficiency in SQL and MPP databases

  • Strong understanding of data governance and security best practices.

  • Ability to manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment.

  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

  • Expertise in performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Experience in integrating data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.

  • Knowledge in Data Modelling (3rd NF, Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) would be an asset.

  • Knowledge in IDERA E/R Solution would be an asset.

  • Understanding of machine learning and AI concepts would be an asset. 

  • Fluent in English written and verbal.

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be an asset.
