ArtiFex is seeking an entrepreneurial CEO to join our mission of transforming vascular surgery with a groundbreaking solution for artificial vascular grafts. This role calls for a strategic leader with a deep understanding of cardiovascular medical devices, biomedical research, and a robust corporate network to lead ArtiFex in pioneering this essential innovation.

The Innovation:
ArtiFex is developing a revolutionary artificial vascular graft that addresses significant clinical needs in coronary and peripheral bypass surgery. The ArtiFex Vascular Graft offers a patented, cellulose-coated solution designed to be a superior, cost-effective alternative, aiming for better outcomes across all key clinical areas.

Your Role as CEO:
As the CEO of ArtiFex, you will be responsible for advancing this breakthrough technology through its development and early-stage clinical validation. You will lead the strategic direction, fundraising efforts, and stakeholder relationships to prepare ArtiFex for a successful exit in the future.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising for Clinical Trials: Lead targeted fundraising efforts to secure capital for First-In-Human (FIH) trials, critical to demonstrating the clinical safety and efficacy of the ArtiFex Vascular Graft.
  • Strategic Networking and Partnerships: Leverage your corporate network in cardiovascular medical devices to build strategic alliances, with a focus on both financial backing and clinical validation.
  • Clinical and Research Expertise: Utilize your background in biomedical sciences to work closely with research teams, bridging the worlds of R&D and clinical application.
  • Engagement with Cardiovascular Surgeons: Cultivate relationships with leading thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons to foster early support, feedback, and advocacy for ArtiFex’s graft technology.
  • Exit Strategy Development: Define and lead a roadmap that positions ArtiFex for a successful exit, including identifying potential acquirers and setting the stage for long-term company value.

Key Competencies:
The ideal CEO for ArtiFex will bring a mix of scientific knowledge, entrepreneurial drive, fundraising experience and a vast professional network within the cardiovascular medical device field. Key qualifications include:

  • Biomedical and Research Background: A strong foundation in biomedical sciences, enabling a unique understanding of the R&D process.
  • Fundraising Expertise: Proven ability to raise capital for early-stage medical device trials, ideally with experience securing funds for First-In-Human studies.
  • Corporate Network in Cardiovascular Devices: Established connections within the cardiovascular medical device industry, with the ability to leverage partnerships for strategic and clinical advancement.
  • Clinical Relationships: A well-developed network with thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons, supporting clinical validation and early adoption.
  • Exit Strategy Focus: Demonstrated skill in defining and executing strategies aimed at positioning early-stage ventures for acquisition or other exits.

Location: The ideal candidate will be based in Europe, preferably in close proximity to ArtiFex’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria, to facilitate seamless leadership and collaboration.
