About The Role

The Data Steward will be governing central reference data for the transportation domain at Trimble. This crucial role ensures the quality, integrity, and usability of common data assets. Our team is building new applications to manage this reference data within the Trimble Cloud core platform and oversees its stewardship.

A key aspect of this role involves heavy cooperation with various stakeholders. You'll work closely with Product Managers to understand business requirements and how data supports new features, and collaborate with domain experts to capture precise data definitions and nuances. This collaborative approach is vital for ensuring our data effectively addresses the evolving needs of the industry.

  • Application Requirements Understanding: Previous experience as a Business Analyst or in similar roles, providing solid knowledge of how data is shared between business applications.

  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders—including technical teams, business users, analysts, and management—to define standards, solve problems, and champion data best practices.

  • Data Analysis Expertise: Hands-on ability to work with data, including strong grasp of data concepts and proven analytical skills.

Nice to have

  • Transportation Domain Knowledge: Understanding transportation and supply chain data, its context, criticality, and application in supporting transportation operations and decision-making across multinational environments is valuable for this role.

  • AI Enabled: Experience using AI tools like OpenAI or Gemini for analysis (e.g., identifying data anomalies, enhancing metadata, and supporting data quality initiatives).

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and Maintain Data Standards: Establish clear definitions, business rules, and quality thresholds for key transportation data elements, ensuring consistency and proper use across the organization.

  • Manage Metadata: Ensure critical transportation data assets are thoroughly documented in data catalogs or glossaries, providing clear definitions, business context, and data lineage to foster understanding and trust.

  • Collaborate and Resolve Data Issues: Serve as the primary point of contact for data-related questions and issues within your domain, actively working with various teams to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve problems efficiently.

  • Empower Application Improvement: Provide essential data and knowledge to the team, enabling them to enhance our reference data management system across all aspects to perfectly serve stakeholder needs.
