About Investments
Our Investments team manages RenaissanceRe’s ~$33 billion investment portfolio, allocating our assets, either directly or through investment managers. We invest in a diverse range of assets from treasuries and corporate bonds to equities and private assets to generate strong risk-adjusted returns over time and to provide capital and liquidity for underwriting risk and paying claims. Our investment portfolio is one of RenaissanceRe’s “Three Drivers of Profit”, along with underwriting income and third party capital fees, providing $1.2 billion in retained net investment income in 2024. RenRe has grown significantly over the past few years, both organically and through strategic acquisitions. To support our expanded scope, scale and allocation plans, we are seeking an experienced individual with a primary focus on private credit, but also to allocate into private equity and other private markets. The alternatives portfolio continues to expand with ~$1.8 billion in NAV currently with significant commitments anticipated as we grow our exposure.
About the Position
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Investments, responsible for leading the alternatives portfolio, the successful candidate will actively support and lead the analysis of investment opportunities within alternatives, with a primary focus on private credit, but also in private equity and related private markets. Our team conducts all due diligence internally, determine allocation sizing and present detailed analysis to the Investment Committee. As part of our close-knit and collaborative team, this role will also support broader decision making on tactical and strategic investment allocations across the entire portfolio. This role is based in our new Dublin City Centre offices and you will be expected to travel as needed to other RenRe offices with Investments activity (NYC, Bermuda, Dublin, London, and Zurich).
Key Responsibilities
Lead due diligence on new investment private credit and private equity opportunities which include fund investments, funds of one, rated structures in private credit and co-investment of fund secondaries opportunities in private credit and private equity.
Conduct due diligence on private equity fund investments and other private market opportunities.
Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing third-party managers and external partners.
Monitor alternative investment performance, including collaborating with the Quantitative and Technology teams to inform analytics.
Contribute to the construction of the alternatives portfolio by researching and developing new tactical and strategic approaches and enhancing existing allocation methodologies.
Proactively stay abreast of market colour and research and share insights and updates with the broader Investment team and other partners.
Contribute to other asset classes as needed. Contribute to quarterly reporting preparation to boards and other various committees.
Collaborate with Accounting, Tax, and Legal on new investment allocation and process.
Collaborate with team members on strategic investment allocations across the overall portfolio.
Candidate Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant experience covering private assets
Strong knowledge of fixed income and financial markets
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, able to synthesize data to inform investment recommendations
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communications skills
Enthusiasm and agility in a high-growth environment; ability to take initiative and work collaboratively
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or equivalent experience; advanced degree, e.g. MBA, CFA, CAIA, or similar preferred
