Job Summary

A strategic and influential AVP, Engineering Manager to oversee the delivery and evolution of technology solutions across a critical business domain. This role is responsible for aligning domain-level technology initiatives with enterprise strategy, leading multiple teams, and driving innovation, quality, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep technical and business acumen, strong leadership, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Innovation & Complexity

  • Define and lead the technical strategy for the domain, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals.

  • Oversee the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions across multiple teams.

  • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and guiding their adoption within the domain.

  • Champion engineering excellence through the implementation of best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with architecture, product, and engineering enablement teams to shape the future of the domain’s technology stack.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Provide oversight for application lifecycle management, including architecture, development, support, and modernization.

  • Ensure the stability, integrity, and usability of domain-wide solutions.

  • Lead the development of reusable components, shared services, and integration patterns across teams.

  • Apply deep expertise in software engineering, including .NET, Python, CI/CD, cloud platforms, and system instrumentation.

  • Guide teams in agile delivery, DevOps practices, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Support budget activities including preparation of tax credit claims and other cost reduction activities

Organizational Impact

  • Ensure alignment of team deliverables with operational plan in collaboration with Value Stream Leads, Platform Management, and Domain Architects.

  • Act as the primary technology leader for the domain, representing engineering in strategic planning and governance forums.

  • Align domain initiatives with enterprise priorities and influence investment decisions.

  • Drive cross-domain collaboration and knowledge sharing to maximize value delivery.

  • Lead risk mitigation, compliance, and quality assurance efforts across the domain.

  • Shape the domain’s engineering culture and contribute to enterprise-wide technology transformation.

  • Manage relationships with 3rd party vendors. Working with Architecture and the other Domain stakeholders lead the selection of new 3rd party technology vendors.

Leadership & Talent Management

  • Lead and develop multiple IT Leads and senior engineers, fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support career development through coaching and mentorship.

  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety within and across teams.

  • Build succession plans and talent pipelines to support long-term organizational growth.

  • Partner with HR and leadership to align team structure and capabilities with strategic needs.

Communication

  • Communicate domain strategy, progress, and risks to executive stakeholders.

  • Represent the domain in enterprise architecture, portfolio, and planning discussions.

  • Influence senior stakeholders and peers through data-driven insights and strategic storytelling.

  • Facilitate alignment across business, product, and technology teams.

  • Represent the organization in external forums, partnerships, or industry events as needed.
