About the location:

Set in the heart of the City, overlooking Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, Tower Bridge is the starting point for discovering London’s historic past, alongside its exhilarating present. As impressive inside as out, this famous five-star hotel remains the centre of attention, as a new chapter begins in its history. This beautiful grade II listed building and former HQ of the Port of London Authority has 100 rooms, 41 residential apartments of which 31 units are in a FS run transient rental program, a stunning ballroom which has hosted the inaugural Reception of the United Nations, 5 meeting rooms, a stunning destination spa with 8 treatment rooms, hammam, steam, sauna and swimming and vitality pool, and a fantastic Food and Beverage offering including Mei Ume (Chinese/ Japanese cuisine) and Rotunda (all day dining, afternoon tea & bar).

Four Seasons Hotel London at Tower Bridge is looking for an Assistant Director of Engineering to join the team.

The Role:
The Assistant Director of Engineering plays a key leadership role within the Engineering team and works closely alongside the Director of Engineering to support the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel. This position oversees a team of Engineering and Maintenance professionals responsible for maintaining all interior and exterior facilities to the highest standards, ensuring a safe, well-maintained and comfortable environment for both guests and employees.

This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent people management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment.

What you will do:

  • Support the Director of Engineering in the overall management of the Engineering department and deputise in their absence.

  • Lead, coach and develop a diverse Engineering and Maintenance team.

  • Oversee all engineering operations across the property, including plumbing, refrigeration, heating and cooling, painting, carpentry, structural works, recycling processes and electrical systems.

  • Ensure all preventative maintenance programmes are effectively implemented and continuously improved.

  • Manage engineering projects, refurbishments and capital works, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations and company standards.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support operational needs and guest satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate records, reports and maintenance logs in line with company requirements.

What you bring:

  • Proven leadership experience within an engineering environment in luxury hospitality.

  • Strong understanding of the engineering needs of a hotel operation.

  • Strong project management experience with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and adapt to the changing needs of the operation.

  • A solid work ethic, strong business acumen and a genuine passion for service excellence.

  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications are preferred.
