The Role
We're looking for a Senior ML/AI Engineer to join our growing AI team. You'll be a core contributor to the design and development of large-scale language model systems and a key voice in EU research projects where Hypertech is a named technology partner.
This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable reading a research paper on a Monday and shipping a production NLP pipeline by Friday.
What You'll Do
- Architect, fine-tune, and deploy large language models (LLMs) and NLP pipelines for real-world applications
- Lead the AI/ML workstream in EU-funded research projects (Horizon Europe and related programs), including technical deliverables, reports, and milestone contributions
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate research into scalable, production-ready systems
- Stay at the forefront of the field — evaluate new methods, propose experiments, and drive adoption of best practices
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong internal AI culture
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong focus on NLP and/or LLMs
- Deep familiarity with transformer architectures, fine-tuning techniques (LoRA, RLHF, instruction tuning), and modern LLM tooling (HuggingFace, LangChain, vLLM, etc.)
- Proven experience with EU-funded research projects — understanding of technical reporting, deliverables, and consortium dynamics is a strong plus
- Solid Python skills and comfort with ML infrastructure (model serving, experiment tracking, data pipelines)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly — to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, AI, or a related field preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience with multimodal models or RAG architectures
- Familiarity with EU funding frameworks (Horizon Europe, EIC, etc.)
- Publications or contributions to open-source ML projects
