About Origina
Origina is a rapidly growing global challenger technology company on a mission to stop unnecessary technology change by helping enterprises to extend, protect and enhance their software assets. We believe organisations should be free to run their systems for as long as they choose - without being pushed into costly, unwanted upgrades that don’t align with their strategy, so we step in to provide an alternative from the original vendor.

We’re scaling fast, with a clear path to €0.5 billion in the next five years, and expanding our presence across Europe, the US, and Australia. As a leading force in independent enterprise software support, we help the world’s largest organisations take back control of their technology roadmap and unlock genuine commercial freedom.

If you’re energised by growth, excited by change, and motivated to help customers challenge long-standing industry norms, this is the team to join. At Origina, you’ll be part of a bold, fast-moving global business where your impact will be felt immediately.

Role Purpose

Origina is seeking an AI & Data Applications Developer to join the Business Applications team. This is a hands-on technical role focused on building AI-enabled applications, supporting the development of Origina's evolving AI architecture, and jointly owning the data foundations that underpin those solutions. Working alongside the AI Technical Lead, AI Architect and development team, you will help design, build and maintain both AI applications and the data structures that support them.

This role combines software development, database design and practical data ownership. You will contribute to the design of application data models, integration patterns and database structures that enable AI solutions to scale effectively across the business. While this is not a data science, enterprise data architecture or machine learning research role, you will play a key role in shaping and governing the AI application data environment and ensuring it remains secure, scalable and fit for purpose.

Origina’s data model is relatively small and simple compared to an enterprise architecture so you do not need to be a data scientist but a good all rounder with a strong foundation/interest in data and data architecture as well as a passion for development and the power of AI.

Key Responsibilities

AI Application Development

  • Design, build and support AI-enabled business applications.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between AI platforms, business systems and databases.
  • Support the delivery of AI agents, AI workflows and AI-assisted business processes.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of Origina’s AI architecture.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Data Architecture & Platform Ownership

  • Contribute to the design and evolution of the data architecture supporting Origina’s applications.
  • Work with the AI Technical Lead and AI Architect to define application data models, integration standards and database structures.
  • Take ownership of the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of application databases and data stores, including how these will support our AI systems.
  • Ensure data structures are scalable, maintainable and aligned with future application requirements.
  • Support the implementation of data governance, security and data quality controls.
  • Assist with the design and operation of data ingestion, transformation and integration processes.

Development & Architecture

  • Work with developers and architects to implement scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Contribute to technical design documentation, standards and development practices.
  • Support application deployment, testing, monitoring and optimisation.
  • Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with colleagues across AI, development, operations and business teams.
  • Assist in promoting best practices in AI-enabled development and data management.
  • Share knowledge and support the growth of AI capabilities across the wider team.

About You

  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong SQL and relational database design skills.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server or similar enterprise databases.
  • Experience developing APIs and system integrations.
  • Experience with Python or equivalent modern development languages.
  • Understanding of data modelling and application data structures.
  • Experience working with Azure or similar cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Git and modern software delivery practices.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience designing relational database schemas and application data models.
  • Experience developing AI-enabled applications.
  • Knowledge of RAG architectures, vector databases and AI orchestration concepts.
  • Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Power Platform or Dataverse.
  • Understanding of data lifecycle management, governance and security principles.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical data structures and technical solutions.
