The Accounting Manager’s goal is to fulfill revenue objectives and adhere to accounting and reporting policies. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for overseeing certain contracts as they relate to financial reporting, leading strategic planning for accounting policies, maintaining internal controls over financial transactions, and supervising the work of the accounting department’s team, including training and professional development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the general accounting function.
  • Oversee the accounting team’s day-to-day work and support their training and development.
  • Develop accounting organizational strategies by contributing financial information and analysis, recommending strategic actions, and setting departmental objectives.
  • Oversee the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Evaluate and improve internal accounting processes to align with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate budget and forecast preparation; analyze and consolidate financial data for reporting.
  • Lead and direct the work of others, relying on experience and judgment to meet objectives.
  • Maintain sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligations.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies in compliance with regulations; ensure timely filing of returns.
  • Ensure department goals align with the organization’s overall mission.

Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Experience with accounting and payroll systems such as QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of government contracts and reporting requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience preparing documentation for audits.
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility; able to prioritize and multitask.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality with sensitive financial information.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
