Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens opened in March 2019 and provides a preferred address for both business and leisure travelers, and the highly personalized, anticipatory service that Four Seasons guests expect and value around the world. The Arion Hotel was built in 1967 and has 106 keys and 61 Bungalows, and the Nafsika opened in 1980 and has 136 keys. Under the same ownership is a large private beach club and marina. Nafsika is open through the year, while Arion and the bungalows operate eight months of the year. Adding to the complement of on-site F&B operations (8 Restaurants and Bars), there are also two third party restaurants on site.
About the Role
Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant to join our Finance team.
The role requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles and the Accounting & Finance Manual. Key responsibilities include preparing accruals, journal entries, and monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, while resolving discrepancies effectively. The candidate will manage vendor statements, supplier debit balances, and aged creditors to ensure accuracy and timely resolution.
Additionally, the role involves processing expense reports, petty cash reimbursements, and reviewing contracts for compliance with policies. Other duties include monitoring daily bank deposits, auditing house funds, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and collaborating with departments for operational improvements. The position emphasizes adherence to internal controls, accuracy in financial reporting, and effective management of financial tasks.
What You Will Do
- Understand and possess a good knowledge of the Accounting & Finance Manual.
- Contribute to the monthly financial reporting by preparing accruals and journal entries in the Accounting System in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, ensuring all outstanding reconciling items are investigated and resolved satisfactorily.
- Verify and process Expense Reports and Petty Cash reimbursements ensuring compliance with key controls.
- Review that all issued invoices / receipts have successfully been uploaded to My data platform and ensure compliance with My data requirements.
- Reconcile vendor statements as they are received, with reconciling items, including any correspondence from the vendor clearly indicated and resolve all discrepancies directly with the vendor.
- Review and ensure that correct terms and necessary clauses are included in all Contracts and Agreements, as per Four Seasons policies and procedures.
- Maintain a list with all supplier debit balances to ensure accurate tracking and timely and proper resolution.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 3 to 12 months of experience in a related position, preferably in the hospitality industry .
- A strong understanding of financial systems and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data handling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
