About your role:
The Business Sales Manager will be responsible for the delivery of sales across all channels ensuring the appropriate channel mix in line with acquisition and retention budget and profitability across both the energy and services and solutions portfolio.

The individual will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of budgeted margin, operating costs and customer targets within each of the channels. The individual will be responsible for the ongoing analysis of performance of the sales teams, identifying market, competitor and customer trends, insights and activities which can improve performance.

The person will ensure that there is a strong communication with our vendors and partners which are both Direct and Indirect (Brokers, Field Sales providers, Contact Centres) to deliver excellent customer experience to customers.

This a key role within the retail team and will require close work with the products and propositions teams to ensure all sales channels are performing to optimum levels.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Define and execute the sales strategy for energy and services portfolio

  • Responsible for sales channel activities; critical responsibility for sales forecast management

  • Work closely with Sales Operations and Vendor management team to ensure  correct product and channel mix for inbound and outbound channels across all products

  • Define a clear roadmap for development of sales channels, encompassing new routes to market

  • Work closely with the Insights Team to define a clear lead generation and management strategy to ensure an integrated approach to business development

  • Work excellently with the wider teams (marketing, operations, CVM, finance, trading) to ensure all strategies are understood and supported and the levels of resource and support required are aligned with each function lead

  • Responsible for delivery of, reporting and tracking of all sales pipelines

  • Monitor, report and regularly review vendor performance based on KPIs, identifying & actioning improvement initiatives

  • Define clear training requirements to continually improve our ability to compete & win

  • Provide requisite information to business segment to ensure that pricing and product propositions are based on a clear understanding of market dynamics

  • Identify innovation to maximise digital channels and products

  • Market & Competitor Intelligence – Accountable for tracking, evaluating and pre-empting market changes to ensure the Bord Gais Energy portfolio remains competitive, and positioned to deliver on our commercial KPI’s.

  • Evaluate and identify best delivery channels for new products including Smart and Sustainability strategies, establishing partnerships where required and ensuring best value is achieved for both customers and BGE.

  • Tangibly Delivering Our Corporate Purpose – Contributes to progressing towards our 2030 goals as a business, and delivering on a 'greener, fairer future', specifically by growing penetration of Smart plans and consumer solution holdings.

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • The individual needs strong analytical and critical thinking skills to successfully balance customer and commercial outcomes adapting plans at the right time to optimise resources and OPEX

  • Work closely with the Propositions teams to deliver opportunities effectively to elevate the BGE Brand and customer solution portfolio

  • Part of - Business Commercial Leadership Team.

  • Leadership Role – Can assess complex situations and adapt leadership style to influence key stakeholders

  • Proven track record of negotiation, deal closure and ability to influence teams

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • 5+ years senior sales management experience working in an omni channel environment

  • Exceptional commercial acumen, analytical skills & experience required.

  • Proven ability to develop channel strategies to ensure optimum mix based on commercial requirements

  • An agile thinker, who is responsive and has a high level of energy is required

  • Structured approach, with the ability to clearly document, summarise and articulate back to the business – with pace.

  • Strong on collaboration and coordination, which will be critical to success delivery in this role.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to balance the challenge of delivering volume versus gross margin.

  • Management of multi million euro accounts / contracts

  • Educated to Degree level, ideally with a business / commercial focus.
